NEW BLOG-NEW ALBUM!

JOIN ME!!!

I am at my happiest when I’m knee deep in a new creative project. To be completely immersed in an artistic endeavor, is cathartic for me. It’s a feeling like no other, an epic and unpredictable roller coaster ride!

I’ve spent the better part of the past year writing ten new songs. Just recently, I have finished recording vocals, guitars, and violin. In creating this new batch of material, I explored unique chord structures, odd meter changes, and vocal melodies that pushed my voice out of it’s comfort zone. The lyrics, which are always last to come, are abstract snapshots of my day to day internal dialogue, which can run to extremes, to say the least.

At this point in the process, having completed my part, I’ve sent the songs to my amazing collaborators, Greg Hansen(Bass), Marc Aiello(Lead Guitar), and Julie Spangler(Keys), and will begin recording their contributions throughout the month of April. Classical instruments, for the first time, will be incorporated into the mix; Violin, cello, oboe, clarinet, and harp. My friend, and local singer/songwriter, Sarah Asher, will lend her beautiful voice to a few songs as well.

To say that I’m excited about this project, is an understatement, and in this Blog I will write about what it’s like, for me, to bring new music into the world. I’ll be talking about my writing process, personal motivations, home recording techniques, and how classical and pop music coexist in my world.
